Everything you need to know about booking and staying at Basecamp and Timberline, our ski-in, ski-out townhomes at Purgatory Resort near Durango, Colorado.
What is the cancellation policy?
We offer flexible cancellation for a full refund up to 30 days before check-in. Cancellations made 14 to 30 days out receive a 50 percent refund, and cancellations within 14 days of arrival are non-refundable. We recommend travel insurance for winter trips, when mountain weather can change plans.
Is there parking available?
Yes. Both Basecamp and Timberline include heated underground parking for one vehicle, which keeps your car clear of snow all winter. Additional parking is available in designated surface lots nearby if you are traveling in a second vehicle. Spaces are first come, first served during peak weekends.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is at 4:00 PM MST and check-out is at 10:00 AM MST. Early check-in or late check-out may be available on request, depending on the cleaning schedule between guests. We send door codes and arrival directions by email before your stay, so no in-person key pickup is needed.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, we cannot allow pets at either townhome because of HOA regulations that apply across the Purgatory Resort community. Service animals are welcome with advance notice, as required by law. If you are traveling with a pet, we are happy to point you toward pet-friendly options in the Durango area.
What is included in the rental?
Every stay includes all linens and towels, a fully equipped kitchen, high-speed Wi-Fi, streaming TV services, toiletries, and basic pantry items. We also leave a welcome basket with local recommendations. You bring your gear and groceries; we handle the comforts so you can spend your time on the mountain.
How far is it from Durango?
Purgatory Resort sits about 25 miles, or roughly 40 minutes, north of downtown Durango on US Highway 550. The drive is scenic and maintained year-round, though winter storms can slow it, so allow extra time. Downtown Durango is worth a visit for its restaurants, shops, and historic railroad.
How much do I save by booking direct?
Booking direct with us typically saves 10 to 15 percent compared with the large listing platforms, because you skip their added guest service fees. You also deal directly with the owners, which means faster answers and first-hand Durango planning help. The same townhomes, the same dates, at a better rate.
What amenities do the townhomes have?
Both townhomes are ski-in, ski-out and sleep families comfortably, with full kitchens, heated underground parking, Wi-Fi, and streaming TV. You are steps from the lifts in winter and the bike park, alpine slide, and hiking trails in summer. Each home is owner-operated and stocked for a self-catered mountain stay.
When is the best time to visit Purgatory?
Purgatory is a true four-season base. Ski and snowboard season runs from late November into April, with reliable snow and shorter lift lines midweek. Summer, from June through September, brings the bike park, alpine slide, hiking, and Animas River trips. Fall offers golden aspens and quiet trails before the snow returns.
How do I get to Purgatory Resort?
The closest airport is Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO), about a 50-minute drive south of the resort. From Durango, take US Highway 550 north for roughly 25 miles to Purgatory. Many guests also drive from Albuquerque, about three and a half hours away, or from Denver in around six hours.
